Foreign broadcasters adopt BBC's Son of God

The BBC documentary that has created an image of what Jesus's face may have looked like has proved an early sales success at the MipTV programming market in Cannes.

BBC distribution arm BBC Worldwide had sold the documentary to seven European broadcasters before even arriving in Cannes for the start of MipTV and executives are confident of further sales during the five-day event.

Son of God has already been snapped up by Mediaset in Italy and broadcasters in Portugal, Denmark, Norway and Belgium.

Worldwide has also sold BBC1 sitcom Lee Evans - So What Now to eight countries.

The buyers include ABC Australia and broadcasters in Holland, Sweden, South Africa, Spain and Portugal.
