Forecasters predict when snow could arrive in Nottinghamshire from today

Snow is predicted to fall in parts of Nottinghamshire from tonight according to weather forecasters.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in place from yesterday afternoon (Saturday, February 7) that goes on until Wednesday.

The warning covers the majority of eastern UK and comes as a spell of bitterly cold winds named Storm Darcy, is brought in further south east from Russia.

In Nottinghamshire, there is a chance snow fall could arrive around 11pm tonight (Sunday, February 8).

It is then more likely to continue in the early hours of Monday morning with chances increasing to 80% by 8am, according to the Met Office.

Describing the weather today and tomorrow, the Met Office says: "[Today will be] cold with rather gusty brisk northeasterly winds, these will continue to bring frequent sleet and snow showers off the North Sea this morning but perhaps easing for a time into the afternoon.

"Further accumulations are likely. Some brighter interludes. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

"[Tonight will be] bitterly cold with a fresh and gusty northeasterly breeze. Further showers of sleet and snow overnight.

"Rather icy on untreated surfaces, with snow accumulating even to low levels. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

"[Monday expected to be] another day of snow showers and strong northeasterly winds. Further accumulations of snow are likely, even to lower levels.

"Remaining cold or bitterly cold, with overnight frost and ice. Maximum temperature 2 °C."

Snow showers are also predicted until Thursday, as temperatures remain close to freezing.

But there is also a chance of some spells of winter sunshine.
