Forecasters predict exactly when thunderstorms could hit Nottingham today

A yellow thunderstorm warning is in place across Nottingham today (August 6).

According to the Met Office thunderstorms could hit the city throughout the afternoon alongside a chance of rain ahead of the weekend.

It comes after torrential downpours on Thursday.

The forecast for Friday, August 6 suggests there is a chance of thunder and lightning at 1pm, with temperatures sitting around 18C.

The Met Office says thunderstorms may then return at around 6pm following an afternoon of potential rain showers and sunny spells.

A yellow thunderstorm warning means there may be slow-moving, heavy downpours which could cause flooding and travel disruption.

The warning is across much of the Midlands and northern regions of the country, including Nottingham and most of the wider county.

If you manage to snap any pictures of lightning, make sure to send them in.
