Forecasters issue warning as 12-hour weather alert in place for Nottinghamshire

A weather warning lasting 12 hours has been issued by the Met Office this weekend as heavy rain is expected to hit Nottinghamshire.

The yellow weather warning is in place from 12noon on Sunday, September 19 lasting until 12midnight that day.

Heavy showers may lead to localised flooding and disruption to transport, the Met Office said.

The warning spans from the south coast of England all the way up Newcastle and covers Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

The weather experts added: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

"Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

"Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

"There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses."

Temperatures in Nottingham are not expected to get above 17C on Sunday.

Pockets of rain are predicted across the city throughout the day.
