Forecaster issue two days of weather warnings for snow in Nottinghamshire

The Met Office has extended its weather warning for snow across some areas of Nottinghamshire for later this week.

Snow came down across most of the county on the morning of Tuesday, December 29, prompting children to take to the slopes to sledge and people to capture their best shots of the beautiful, snowy landscape.

Now the Met Office has issued another yellow weather warning for snow on both Wednesday, December 30 and Thursday, December 31.

Currently the warning only covers the western part of the county, with areas to the east - such as Newark and Bingham - left out.

No warnings have been given for January 1.

The weather on Tuesday caused some disruption in Nottingham, particularly in Clifton, where bin collections were cancelled due to the conditions on the roads.

Snowfall only lasted for a few hours, however, and failed to settle in a substantial manner.

Speaking of the rest of of the week, the Met Office says: "Snow arriving from the north later Wednesday, moving south through Thursday morning may lead to some travel disruption.

"Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. Some higher routes across Scotland and northwest England may briefly become impassable early Thursday morning."
