Less than a month out from the opening of the snow season, the main resorts are talking up just how much of the white stuff is on the ground, even though the there likely won't be any repeats of the weekend's snowfall in the next week.
Thredbo recorded 10cm of snow on the weekend and Perisher recorded 12cm, and the Brindabellas closer to Canberra also received a dusting of white powder.
But the Bureau of Meteorology has dampened expectations of further flurries in the coming days.
Meteorologist Helen Reid said the open skies meant hopes for further snow would need to be delayed.
"We're not expecting any snow for the next week, although it is cold enough, there will be no rain, therefore no snow," Ms Reid said.
Next week "there will be clear skies and frosty mornings, but no snow with it, looking up until Monday," she said.
The snowless forecast for coming days isn't slowing preparations for the opening long weekend at Thredbo, starting June 12.
Thredbo marketing manager Richie Caroll said the resort was "extremely excited to kick off the ski and snow season for winter 2021".
"We fired up the snow gun over the weekend and it's perfect timing as we have a huge line up of events and activities happening both on and off the mountain," Mr Caroll said.
As well as skiing and snowboarding, ice sculptor Kenji will be carving designs and live music and street performers will warm up the evenings.
Mr Caroll said the snowfall consisted of "15cm of snow up high, going all the way down to the village over the weekend, covering the entire resort in a white blanket of snow".
