FORD has unveiled a major revamp of its popular Focus mid-sized family car, with bolder model designs, fuel-efficient hybrid powertrains and superior infotainment and driver assistance systems.
Available to order now and priced from £22,465 on the road for an entry-level Trend model, first deliveries of the blue oval badged newcomer are expected early in 2022.
Above that will sit distinctive mid-range Titanium, toughened-up Active and sporty ST-Line variants.
These can be enhanced with an optional Vignale package delivering greater luxury and exclusivity, while hot-hatch fans will be pleased to hear the ST has also received attention.
The new Focus also offers 48-volt mild-hybrid 1.0-litre petrol powertrains, with outputs of 125 or 155PS, among its range of engine options – and introduces a seven-speed auto gearbox to make the electrified driving experience easier.
The less potent unit, mated to a six-speed manual, delivers an average 51.5mpg with CO2 levels from 116g/km, while a 120PS 1.5 diesel achieves 56.5mpg and 120g/km of tailpipe emissions.
A major highlight will be Ford’s next-generation advanced connectivity and infotainment SYNC 4 technology, with a huge 13.2in landscape centre screen.
Advanced driver assistance technologies include Blind Spot Assist that can help prevent a driver switching lanes if a potential collision is detected.
The estate, meanwhile, gets a loadspace increased to 1653 litres and practical touches such as a new wet zone, easy-clean carpet and side trims, and a vertical divider for simple and effective organisation of the loadspace.
The new ST, which costs from £33,885, features sporty new exterior styling and alloy wheel designs, all-new performance seats and a 280PS 2.3-litre petrol engine.
