Ford recalls over one million F-150s over dangerous transmission issue

Ford is recalling nearly 1.4 million F-150 pickup trucks in the U.S. due to a gearshift problem.

The issue stems from an intermittent transmission range sensor signal, which can cause an unintended downshift into second gear.

This fault may lead to an abrupt reduction in wheel speed, potentially causing drivers to lose control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford has reported awareness of two injuries and one accident possibly linked to this defect.

The recall affects F-150 models with a six-speed automatic transmission manufactured between March 2014 and August 2017, with owners to receive a free powertrain control module update.
