Ford Fiesta owners on high alert after three cars stolen from East Lothian streets on same night

Ford Fiesta owners are on high alert after three cars were stolen in East Lothian.

Police are investigating the theft of Ford Fiestas from outside homes in Tranent and Musselburgh. All incidents took place overnight on Sunday into Monday.

A red car, registration SJ17 BLC, was last seen outside Faside Crescent, Tranent, at around 8pm on Sunday while a grey Fiesta, registration SG16 UVV, was last seen on Campie Road in Musselburgh at around 6.30pm. The third vehicle, a blue Fiesta (HX16 CTZ) was last seen parked on West Holmes Gardens, Musselburgh, at around 2pm.

The owner of the blue Fiesta believes they saw flashing orange lights outside their home at around 11pm, and police are treating this as a potential lead..

In the meantime, Ford owners are being urged to "take extra care" securing their vehicles, and remain vigilant in the coming days.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Morrison, from Musselburgh CID, said: “We’re appealing for anyone with information about these thefts, which we believe to be linked, to come forward.

“Officers are carrying out enquiries in the areas and we are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious, or people with CCTV footage near the streets in question, which may assist us in tracing the cars."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident numbers 0420, 0460 and 0763 of 20 January. Alternatively, get in touch with Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
