Force of crash bends and uproots lamppost after two-car smash in Childwall

The force of a crash caused a lamppost to bend and be uprooted from the ground in Childwall.

Emergency services were called to the two-car smash at the junction of Childwall Road and Thingwall Road at 3.50pm, on Sunday.

A BMW 116 and an Audi Q3 were involved in the smash which left a lamppost hugely bent out of shape and towering over the road.

Pictures show the lamppost almost unearthed from the ground and there are also tyre marks on the road.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said there were no injuries, following the crash.

A Liverpool City Council official attended the scene, near King Davids School, to fix the broken lamppost.

Merseytravel said some of their bus routes were subject to delays with diversions in place.
