A new horse has arrived in the conservatory stable of shattered Forbes Robertson.
We revealed his giant rocking horse was stolen in a raid on his Doonfoot home.
Now he has bedded in a much smaller replacement and is offering a case of prosecco to readers who can name the new colt.
Businessman and collector Forbes said: “Everybody thinks the stolen horse is back when they drive past.
“It is not. Despite various leads, he has not been traced and I am now increasing the reward from £1000 to £2000.
“This new fellow is like the great-grandson of the original.”
There was an astonishing reaction to our story on the theft, with several generations of people anguished the horse was not there any more.
It had become a landmark on the road from Doonfoot to Dunure and legions of Craig Tara children loved him.
Forbes said: “I had no idea so many people were so fond of the horse, which never had a name.
“So I think it would be nice for people to come up with a name for the new one.
“It is of course much smaller than the original, which was huge.
“Hopefully the new one will continue giving some joy.”
The cottage was broken into last month and also taken were a Steiff teddy and a Charlie teddy. The Steiff used to perch on the horse.
Forbes is also asking for a name for the new teddy that is sitting on the horse and will donate another case of wine to the winner.
