NEW YORK -- Tennis star Naomi Osaka again became the world's highest-paid female athlete this year by making 60 million dollars (6.6 billion yen) in a year, demolishing her own previous record of 37.4 million dollars set last year, the online version of Forbes magazine reported Wednesday.
The U.S. magazine said she has more than 20 endorsement partners and earns 55 million dollars from advertising. She will be ranked No. 12 on the Forbes list of the world's 50 highest-paid athletes -- to be published soon -- making a significant jump from last year's No. 29 ranking, the magazine said.
Osaka recently made a statement that she would withdraw from the French Open and then revealed she had long experienced depression and anxiety.
Forbes cited experts who said that neither her value nor her brand image would likely be damaged by these circumstances.
