'For your sake' - Nottingham Forest fans warn Coventry City to steer clear amid takeover rumours

Nottingham Forest fans have been taking to social media to warn Coventry City supporters about their former owner Fawaz Al Hasawi.

Reports in The Athletic  claim that League One side Coventry could be club of interest to Al Hasawi as he looks to make a return to football.

The Kuwaiti took over the Reds seven years ago before selling it to current owner Evangelos Marinakis in 2017 after almost five years at the helm.

Despite arriving at the City Ground with good intentions and lofty ambitions Al Hasawi’s tenure saw the club make the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Forest endured a Financial Fair Play transfer embargo while he was at the helm and worked their way through a flurry of managers, which saw supporters protesting against his reign.

Things have been far from rosy across the midlands too with the Sky Blues currently playing their home games 15 miles away in Birmingham.

Under current owners SISU the club have been made homeless following a row over the Ricoh Arena between the City council, Coventry and stadium owners Wasps Rugby Club.

But no matter how bad things may be for City, it hasn't stopped Forest fans from issuing a warning about Fawaz...

Kat Raggabinto: Coventry have more than enough problems already. Seemed to mean well at Forest but was well out of his depth. Situation at Cov is even more confusing than it was at Forest. Hope he steers clear.

Ben Wright: If the rumours about Fawaz are true I really feel for Coventry City! They have suffered enough!

Dombacca: Aahh the annual Fawaz wants to buy back into English football story.

Thomas Newton: EFL, if you don’t want another Bolton and Bury on your hands. Then ensure you do the fit and proper checks correctly. Plus I feel sorry for any club with Fawaz at the helm.

James Dwan: Oh dear Coventry, I hope for your sake this isn’t true. He has cash but clueless. Difference now with Marinakis at NFFC is night and day.

Tigguo Cobauc: Dear all Coventry City fans. Don't let this car crash of a man near your club. Love from all Forest fans.
