ARLINGTON, Texas _ The Rays have a lot of the decisions to make about their roster and their lineup heading into the World Series against the Dodgers, which begins Tuesday.
But they made one big, and fairly obvious one, on Monday: Tyler Glasnow will start Game 1 and Blake Snell will start Game 2.
Though their American League Championship Series against the Astros was extended to a seventh game on Saturday night, the Rays are able to go into the World Series with their top starters ready and rested.
Glasnow worked six innings in Game 4 on Wednesday, throwing 96 pitches over six innings, and will have the benefit of an extra day's rest. He did warm up in the eighth and ninth inning of Saturday's clincher.
Snell worked four-plus shutout innings in Game 6 on Friday, throwing 82 pitches before being taken out by manager Kevin Cash, and he would be pitching Wednesday on regular rest. Snell started the opener of the Rays' first three playoff series.
Charlie Morton, who started Game 7, presumably will pitch Game 3 of the Series on Friday, with the benefit of Thursday's built-in day off, even though there is no travel in the neutral-site format.
The Rays were flying from San Diego to Dallas on Monday morning, with plans to go straight to Globe Life Field for a workout, getting their first look at the new retractable-roof home of the Texas Rangers. The Dodgers have the benefit of having played 10 playoff games there.
