A piece about genetics (“Game of chances: inheritance is a question of probability, not destiny”, New Review, last week) cited Charles II of Spain. Unfortunately, the picture illustrating it was of Charles II of England.
A review of Swagga (New Review, last week) mistakenly referred to one of the performers as Alexandrina Helmsley. Her surname is Hemsley. Apologies.
An error in transcription meant that Julian Gower was misquoted (“No fires, no mystery as Stonehenge’s solstice is sold as a ‘holiday experience’ ”, In Focus, last week) in his response to English Heritage’s ban on sleeping bags and duvets. He actually said: “It would only be a trip hazard if they could find any decent acid these days.”
An article about switching phone and internet suppliers (“A simple bundle of joy?”, Business, 14 June) suggested that Ofcom offered a switching service to consumers. It doesn’t.
We said last week (Barbara Ellen, Comment) that “it is only lately that black actors have been ‘permitted’ to play a plum part (such as Othello)”. Ira Aldridge (in 1825) and Paul Robeson (1930) played that role in the UK.
