A piece on shared parental leave said correctly that the World Health Organisation recommended breast-feeding for the first six months of a baby’s life. However, the WHO also recommends continued breast-feeding with appropriate complementary foods up to two or beyond (“Pulling his weight”, Magazine, last week, page 12).
A subheading last week said Rajendra Pachauri, head of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, had been awarded a Nobel prize. He received the 2007 prize, which was awarded jointly to former US vice-president Al Gore, on behalf of the IPCC. (“I am not guilty. I have been set up by climate change sceptics”, News, last week, page 18).
Azed 2,286 (New Review, last week, page 41) might have been confused with this clue: Drunken bar where diamonds are found? Jewellers made it up (7). The answer was MIRBANE. However, nitrobenzene, or oil of mirbane, is used in the making of soaps and perfumes, not jewellery.
“The family patriarch, Patrick Hynes, was an Irish rebel with Wolf Tone in 1978...” We meant 1798 – and Wolfe Tone (Easter Rising, New Review, last week, page 14).
