We carried an incorrect picture when displaying the 12 people on the shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year last week. An image purporting to show gymnast Max Whitlock was actually of teammate Dan Purvis. Apologies. (Sport, page 18).
An editing error led to us to misname Ivan Cutting, the artistic director of Eastern Angles, a touring theatre company that performs to audiences in small venues, as Ivan Tucker. Apologies. (“The cost of taking your family to the panto”, News, last week, page 5).
While John Ford had a lengthy association with John Wayne, the original (1969) version of the film True Grit did not involve him (“Saddle up and head for the screens: the western is back”, In Focus, last week, page 35). Henry Hathaway directed it from a Marguerite Roberts screenplay based on Charles Portis’s book. And “Comedy to lead way as British movies battle TV box set culture” (News, last week, page 11) might have given the erroneous impression that BBC Films is responsible for the Bridget Jones film series. They are the product of several companies including Working Title and Universal Pictures.
