A photograph accompanying “Open season for Tudor tourism as Wolf Hall effect takes hold” (News, last week, page 11), showed Wayneflete’s tower at Farnham Castle in Surrey, not the tower built for Bishop Wayneflete at Esher Palace where Cardinal Wolsey lived under house arrest after Henry VIII seized his London mansion, York Place.
A glitch in the Press Association’s football results service last week led early editions to suggest Derby County had a particularly busy Saturday afternoon, taking on both Chesterfield in the FA Cup and Blackburn in the Championship. It also seemed to have been a hectic transfer window as the entire Chesterfield team apparently turned out for Blackburn. Apologies. Derby County actually triumphed over Chesterfield 2-0.
A book review last week referred to Shakespeare’s line: “Physician, heal thyself”. That’s not Shakespeare but Luke, chapter 4, verse 23 (“What seems to be the trouble, doc?” New Review, page 42).
Our Joined-Up Thinking quiz is always a challenge but it really baffled readers last week when it cited “Pantheon” when it meant “Parthenon”. (New Review, page 46). Apologies.
