After their engagement, Archie Christie, fiance of Agatha Miller, did not join the RAF in 1914, but the Royal Flying Corps. The RAF was formed in 1918 (“Wartime nursing fuelled Agatha Christie’s toxic tales”, News, 21 October, page 7).
