For the record

A graphic headlined “Visualising England’s changing wealth” (News, last week, page 17) attempted to show the changing fortunes of England’s population between 1980 and 2010 using a computer-generated distortion technique which some found confusing. To clarify: the regions of England and boroughs of London were each coloured separately. The first section, captioned “Increase in poor”, showed those areas drawn in proportion to the population, thereby making London much larger. The second, captioned “Decline in middle”, showed the number of households which are neither rich nor poor – a fall of 265,000 across the country, almost all of which has been concentrated in London, hence the counter-intuitive ballooning size of the capital.

Our review of the play Lippy (New Review, last week, page 22) said it was written by Mark O’Halloran. He contributes a nine-minute monologue; the play itself is written by Bush Moukarzel.

Crunch time: how the Apple Watch could create a $1tn company” (Business, last week, page 44) said that after the introduction of the $399 iPod in 2001, Apple had produced a $99 TV set-top box “as something of an afterthought”. Afterthought or not, it actually retailed at $299.
