We apologise unreservedly for last week’s Speedy crossword (News, page 51), which gave dementia as the answer to the clue: form of insanity. Dementia is a term used to describe some 200 progressive neurological conditions. It has no relation to psychiatric illness.
We should make it clear that hormone blocking medication outlined in an article on children seeking help with gender identity is only ever administered after the onset of puberty, not before (“Trans kids”, Magazine, last week, page 22).
An editing error led to Jay Hunt, Channel 4’s chief creative executive, being described as “he” last week. We apologise to her. (“As the forces of darkness muster, it’s time for the duvet and comfort TV”, In Focus, page 33).
Naming names: “This Much I Know” (Magazine, last week, page 12) quoted the designer Tommy Hilfiger saying: “John F Kennedy and I were friends. His death shook us all.” We meant John F Kennedy Jr, who died in an air accident in 1999, not his father, assassinated in 1963. And our TV review named Damilola Taylor’s mother Grace throughout. She was Gloria Taylor (New Review, last week, page 28).
