For the record

How to cook the perfect Christmas lunch” (Observer Food Monthly, 16 November, page 22) omitted to give the oven temperatures for cooking the turkey. It should be 30 minutes at 180C/gas mark 4 and then two to two and a half hours depending on the size of the bird at 150C/gas mark 2.

An interview with Valérie Trierweiler, “It’s more dignified to shut up?” (New Review, last week, page 8), referred to Ségolène Royal as François Hollande’s wife or ex-wife. While the couple had a long relationship, they never married.

The poem, An Aviary of Small Birds, that accompanied a review of Karen McCarthy Woolf’s book of the same name (“A pitch-perfect tale of love and loss”, New Review, last week, page 39), omitted some text in the fourth verse, which should have read: “Quick as the light that/ constitutes your spirit./ Yes, you were briefer/ than Neruda’s octobrine.”

The “Why it works” feature (Magazine, last week, page 6) described Natalie Dormer’s smile as “This isn’t what Euclidean geometry is for, but that is a flawless equilateral triangle”. To clarify, a reader writes: “It is an isosceles triangle with two equal sides, not an equilateral triangle with three. An equilateral triangle would be a very odd mouth.”
