Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that if people of Uttar Pradesh want to see Narendra Modi as their Prime Minister again in 2024, they must elect Yogi Adityanath as their Chief Minister for a second term in 2022.
While Mr. Shah lavished praised on Mr. Adityanath on several fronts, especially law and order and making UP mafia mukt (free of mafia), he also said that it was “impossible” in five years to fill the “large pothole” left behind by previous governments.

“If you want to make Modiji PM again in 2024, then in 2022 you will have to make Yogiji CM once again. Then, the country’s development can move forward. Because without development of U.P., the country cannot develop,” said Mr. Shah while launching the BJP’s fresh membership drive in U.P. ahead of next year’s Assembly election.
Mr. Shah said that under Mr. Modi as PM all wishes of U.P. were fulfilled just like a child visiting his or her maternal house got all he or she desired. Victory in the 2022 U.P. Assembly election would serve as the foundation stone for a win in 2024 Lok Sabha election under the leadership of Mr. Modi, said Mr. Shah.

Mr. Adityanath and his team had fulfilled 90% of the promises made by the BJP in its manifesto released in 2017, said Mr. Shah, expressing the wish that in the coming two months the CM would work to take it to 100% as much as possible.
“So that people believe that the BJP does what it promises,” said Mr. Shah.
Targetting previous governments, Mr. Shah said they had “left behind such a large pothole that is impossible to fill it in five years.”
“Nobody can fill it. A lot is left to do in U.P.,” he said, seeking a second term for the BJP in the State which has a total 403 MLAs.
Mr. Shah said Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav would mock the BJP over the date of the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya with the jibe ‘mandir wahin banaenge, tithi kabhi nahi banaenge.”

“Akhilesh babu, the foundation stone of the mandir has already been laid. But you missed out from even donating ₹5,000,” said the home minister.
While the SP government had “gunned down” “innocent Ram Bhakts” in Ayodhya in 1990, the BJP under Modi had facilitated and accelerated the construction of the Ram Mandir, said the BJP leader. “Did you ever imagine that you could have a darshan of the Ram Mandir during your lifetime,” Mr. Shah asked the public.
In his address, Mr. Shah also repeated the alleged exodus from Kairana during the SP government and said that under the BJP government those who used to cause exodus of people were themselves forced to flee from the State. Mr. Shah also said that now a 16-year-old girl could wear jewellery and ride a scooter on the roads of U.P. at midnight during festivals without any fear.
