For Bears, Week 5 game in London just a ‘business trip’

While the Oakland Raiders are currently in London preparing for Sunday’s Week 5 match-up, the Chicago Bears aren’t leaving for London until Thursday.

Certainly playing an international game provides an opportunity to explore the sights and sounds of another country, but for the Bears Sunday’s game is nothing other than a business trip.

“Personally, I don’t care,” Aaron Lynch said, via NBC Sports Chicago. “I know other people may be going out there but for me it’s just going there to play football, going there for a few days and come back home.”

But what about exploring all of the historical sights that London has to offer?

“Honestly, I haven’t even thought about it,” said ILB Nick Kwiatkoski. “I’m just focused on the game right now, and if there’s time there’s time.”

But perhaps no one is less excited about London than LT Charles Leno Jr., who is ready to play ball and head home.

“I’ve already been there. Done that scene,” he said. “I just want to go there, play football and get out.”

Oh, and don’t even get him started on the food.

“There’s no seasoning, no spices,” he said. “It’s just fish and chips. That’s it. There’s no fish and chips with seasoning. It’s just fish and chips.”

The Bears have plenty of reasons to be confident heading into Sunday’s game against Khalil Mack’s former team, including riding a three-game winning streak where they most recently dismantled the Minnesota Vikings while missing six starters.

But that’s no reason to celebrate just four games into the season. There’s work to be done, especially this Sunday in London.

“This is a business trip,” Danny Trevathan reminded us all. “We’ll party after the game.”
