MUMBAI: For over the past five days residents of Vile Parle have been witnessing no water supply owing to a BMC water pipeline which have sustained leakage.
The cause of the same has yet not been traced. Officials have yet not been able to assure locals till when water supply would be restored back to normal.
Former BJP corporator from the area, Aneesh Naval Makwanney said that he has been following up with the civic authorities but feels that they have been taking the matter lightly. “Citizens have been complaining about lack of water in the area and I have been continuously following up with the authorities on the same. However the authorities are not aggressively looking for the leakage,” he said
Kishor Niphadkar, president of Milan Subway ALM said there has been no water supply since Sunday. “We did manage to source one tanker but maximum people in the area are having to do with bottled water for drinking purpose,” he said.
Officials from the hydraulic department said that it was a leakage in the 600 mm main pipeline and work was in progress. “ As it is the main SV road, searching for the leakage and attending to it by shutting the road during the day is difficult,” said an official.
