Footpaths are to be widened around Glasgow Central Station's High & Low Level entrances to create extra pedestrian space for social distancing.
The work is being carried out as part of Glasgow City Council's Spaces for People programme to protect public health and suppress a second wave of Covid-19.
And it will also see Gordon Street and Argyle Street both become one-way only (eastbound) to permitted traffic between Hope St/Union St.
Work will take place this weekend to install the temporary travel infrastructure around the transport hub and will be in place for a minimum period of three months.
From this Sunday (June 21):
- Gordon Street will become one-way (eastbound) to permitted traffic between Hope Street and Union Street. This will mean 'no right turn' from Renfield Street.
Argyle Street will become one-way (eastbound) to permitted traffic between Hope Street and Union Street. This will mean 'no right turn' from Union Street.
Westbound cycle access will be maintained.
The work comes weeks after the installation of the first set of pedestrian priority traffic lights installed at the junction of St Vincent Street and Buchanan Street.
The lights are automatically set at the green man and require to be activated by vehicles, rather than on pedestrian demand.
