A sandwich is a perfect lunchtime snack, and in Britain there are endless ways to have them. From a classic Meal Deal sandwich, to a crisp butty, which it turns out Americans are only just learning about, the options are endless.
However, one footie fan has taken it to a whole new level after sharing his controversial mushy peas sandwich.
It turns out the humble mushy peas sandwich is a classic dish served at Marske United's football ground, located in Marske-by-the-Sea, North Yorkshire.
The club was recently visited by The Oldham Groundhopper, a football fan turned blogger who travels to visit stadiums all over the UK.

On a recent visit to Marske, the footie fan took everyone by surprise by uploading a picture of his lunch to Facebook – a portion of mushy peas with a white bread bun, for a bargain price of £1.50.
Showing off his match day meal, The Oldham Groundhopper wrote: "Mushy Peas and a bit of bread at Marske United! £1.50, adding he would allow the meal to be "slated".
The post was shared by thousands of people – many of whom were horrified by the sight of the mushy pea sandwich.
One shocked foodie wrote: "Oh. My. God. I'd pay £1.50 not to have to look at this."
Another left a savage comment saying: "I wouldn't give that to the dog."
A third commented: "That looks absolutely horrible."
However, others were more complimentary of the dish, with one person saying: "Mushy peas are food of the Gods and a meal in themselves. Cracking food and great value. There is a stall on Norwich Market that just sells mushy peas and it does a roaring trade."
Some suggested adding mint sauce or vinegar to the mushy peas was the way to go. One person commented: "Can't beat a mushy pea buttie with some mint sauce or vinegar on."
Another agreed, saying: "All that needs is a bit of mint sauce."
"I love a mushy pea sarnie," said another.
Whilst another said: "Quid and a half? It would fill you up, bargain I'd say. With a bit of mint sauce...champion!"
After the post went viral, TeessideLive contacted Marske to find out more about the delicacy.
Mark Hathaway, Marske United club secretary, told the publication: "We have a fairly extensive menu to be honest! We have steak pies, mince pies, sausage rolls, hot pork buns and hot beef buns.
"We also have things like chocolate bars and crisps."
