Footballers' wives and girlfriends set to live on 'HMS WAG' during Qatar World Cup

Footballers' wives and girlfriends will be staying on a luxury liner for the Qatar World Cup, branded the "HMS WAG."

As the England team prepare to touch down in Qatar, their entourage of partners, wives, girlfriends and children will also be tagging along. Although, as discussed on This Morning, it appears the WAGs will be homed on their own private luxury liner.

Branded the HMS WAG, Dermot O'Leary said the cruise ship is where the women will be spending their nights during the World Cup. He said: "The luxury ship has docked in Doha and will be home to the wives and girlfriends of the World Cup England players.

"It has been revealed the MSC Europa cost £1bn. It boasts 260,000 cabins, six swimming pools, a promenade, 14 ocean-view whirlpools 13 dining venues and more than 30 cafes and bars."

Dermot confirmed the Wags will remain in "a bubble" for the World Cup which led Alison Hammond to question "why are they even going."

The wives and girlfriends received an official briefing ahead of their arrival, warning them of their internet use and the possibilities that may lead to them being imprisoned. Access to certain websites is blocked in the Gulf state and anyone who facilitates the spread of "fake news" may face criminal charges.

The Mirror reported a source said of the security lesson: "It was a long, detailed session. But it was not all about hotels and restaurants. It was much more about support from the FA and tips on culture, and the importance of online security.

"The online warnings made up a big part of it. There were also some genuine concerns about hacking."
