Football Weekly: QPR and Reading relegated - will Newcastle join them?

It's all killer and no filler in our longest-ever edition of Football Weekly, so you're getting your full money's worth* from AC Jimbo, Barry Glendenning, Philippe Auclair and John Ashdown. (*And yes this podcast is free).

We begin with Newcastle's capitulation at home to Liverpool, a result that sees the Magpies deep in the Premier League relegation doo-doo and with some horrible fixtures left to save their season. Can they survive? Hopefully they'll put up more of a fight than Reading and QPR, whose fates were sealed in the derby of the damned, quite possibly the worst game of all time.

Next, we catch up with Sid Lowe, who gets us up to date on Barcelona and Real Madrid's attempts to overturn their first-leg deficits in the Champions League, and from there, it's Proper Football as we celebrate Doncaster's last-minute heroics in sealing promotion from League One and all the other ups and down in the lower divisions.

You want more? There's stuff about David Beckham's red card; a possible summer managerial merry-go-round; Schrödinger's cat; and half-time team talks by daytime TV presenters.

Iain Macintosh
joins us for Football Weekly Extra on Thursday, and Philippe's back with us in front of the cameras in Friday's Football Weekly Very Extra.

Still want more? Here's Harry's Games, a new book by the Guardian's John Crace all about what goes inside 'Arry's 'ead as mentioned on today's show, and this is a link to the Football Supporters' Federation's Twenty's Plenty petition to cap ticket prices for away fans at £20.
