Football Weekly Extra: Irish eyes smiling and the lid lifted at Liverpool

James Richardson has Barry Glendenning, Gregg Roughley and genuine Scandinavian Marcus Christenson on board for today's Football Weekly Extra in which - at long, long last - we welcome the return of club football (oh, how we've missed you).

But wait! Before we get there, we look back on the final round of the Euro 2012 qualifiers to see who's made it to Poland and Ukraine, and who'll have to slug it out in the play-offs. The Republic of Ireland look to have the best of the draw with their tie against Estonia, as Jonathan Wilson explains.

Next, David Conn tells us about his new best friend, Liverpool's American owner, John W Henry, and also gives his opinion on the Reds' attempts to go solo and negotiate their own TV deal.

Then, finally, we preview all the weekend's action, including Manchester United's trip to Anfield, the Black Country derby and the relegation six-pointer between Wigan and Bolton.

We're back as on Monday - with Philippe Auclair and Michael Cox, no less - but in the meantime, give us your feedback on the blog, and why not check out more of Jimbo's puns in his European paper review.
