Football Weekly: Chelsea bash Newcastle and the passing of Socrates

Floating in his tin can in a most peculiar way, AC Jimbo is joined in near earth orbit by Barry Glendenning, Tom Lutz and James Horncastle for another action-packed instalment of Football Weekly.

They round up the weekend's Premier League action, paying particular attention to Blackburn's surge up the the table to third from bottom and Chelsea's win over Newcastle in a match that was as entertaining as it was controversial.

With the Champions League group stages ending this week and Arsenal already through to the last 16, our podders weigh up the chances of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, who face assignments ranging from the tricky to the highly improbable.

Speaking of Europe, Sid Lowe's dog can be heard barking in the background as her master gets on the blower to round up the weekend's La Liga action, while Messrs Richardson and Horncastle discuss Serie A matters, including one literally unwatchable scoreless draw.

And finally, an uncharacteristacally sombre Fernando Duarte pays tribute to his compatriot Socrates, the Brazilian midfield maestro who passed away yesterday.
