Football Manager players are trying to get a job at Greater Manchester's newest club

A brand new football club advertising for its first ever manager has been receiving applications from people citing their virtual successes.

AFC Bury was set up following the events which saw Bury FC ejected from the English Football League last August and the club is now searching a head coach.

The team is hoping to be placed in the 10th tier of English football and aims to give local fans something to celebrate after the heartbreaking financial issues which led the Shakers to lose their spot.

But, since launching the search for a new manager, the club says it has seen lots of applications from people citing their achievements on the Football Manager video game.

In a series of tweets, AFC Bury said: "If the past 24 hours have taught us one thing, there are some seriously impressive FootballManager players out there.

"As much as we’ve enjoyed reading about your “non-league to Champions League” saves, we are looking for a UEFA B Licensed coach who knows the non-league system like the back of their hand.

"If that’s you send your cv tochair@buryafc.uk."

Supporters quickly rallied to set up Bury AFC following ejection from the league and have spent the last few months preparing for life in non-league.

Despite the comical nature of some of the applications, the club will be pleased to have received such a huge response from fans.

Membership of the phoenix club was launched in April with fans able to join and have a say on the club's future for just £5 per month.
