After skipping a year and canceling Football Manager 25, Sports Interactive looks to be back in full swing with Football Manager 26. We already took a look at the new recruitment hub and the tactics system, and these innovations look like they’ll make this a very strong game. Unfortunately, there are a lot of missing features in the upcoming title.
We already covered how international management won’t be a thing in FM 26, meaning national teams won’t be available to players at launch. A post from FMInside, one of the leading sources on Football Manager, confirms more missing features.
How Do These Features Affect The Game?

Gamerbraves interviewed the Sports Interactive Studio Director, Miles Jacobson, and he confirmed that custom skins won’t be available at launch. In this Reddit thread, users were skeptical of FMInside’s claims about these missing features, but Miles Jacobson himself confirmed a lot of them. Here’s what we know for sure so far:
- No international management
- No custom skins at launch
- No versus mode
- No screen configuration
The only thing that FMInside potentially got wrong is the “No Windowed Mode” claim, and that likely stems from a mistranslation from a foreign interview of Jacobson. It would be ridiculous if that’s not an option in the game, as many people like to multitask and switch between the game, the browser, and other apps while playing.
Additionally, “No screen configuration” is also a weird thing to omit at launch. This likely means that you won’t be able to change the in-game resolution, framerates, and other display options. This is all speculation for now, but that’s certainly a strange thing to ignore for such a big game like this.
The lack of international management is still the biggest letdown here. Many players were looking forward to managing women’s teams, and international games are a major part of women’s soccer. We also have the FIFA World Cup next year, so it would be disappointing if you couldn’t simulate your favorite national team to glory in FM 26. We can only hope they add these features post-launch.
