A small but major feature looks like it’s finally coming to Football Manager. In a screenshot making the rounds on Reddit and Twitter, eagle-eyed fans noticed an “Instant Result” button appearing in the in-match options menu for the upcoming Football Manager 26 — something many players have been requesting for years at this point.
The image, taken from recent beta or preview footage of FM26, shows the button located in the top-right corner of the match interface, just above the replay and highlight settings. The addition would let virtual managers instantly simulate the remainder of a match without watching highlights or sitting through the 3D match engine, effectively offering a “skip to result” option mid-game.
The Instant Result feature was once a staple of popular community mods and skins, particularly during the mid-2010s when SI didn’t include it natively. And it still exists today through custom skins. Fans mostly use it to move quickly through early-round cup ties, preseason friendlies, or games where the outcome isn’t crucial. While it appeared in some official versions on console and Touch editions, the feature has never been a consistent part of the PC release — the closest equivalent was going through a match on “Commentary Only.” But now, it’s here.
For series purists, the inclusion might seem minor, and not something most of them will use (myself included). But it could dramatically speed up the pace of long-term saves, especially for players managing across multiple competitions or experimenting with tactical systems. It’s also another example of SI acknowledging community feedback, following features like customizable camera angles, real-time staff suggestions, and deeper skin support.
Sports Interactive hasn’t formally acknowledged the Instant Result feature as being included in Football Manager 26 yet, but considering the button can be seen in official footage for the game, I’d imagine some kind of “deep dive” for the feature will appear in press materials at some point pre-launch.
With the Football Manager 26 Advanced Access period set to begin later this week, fans won’t have to wait long to find out if this long-awaited shortcut is truly making a comeback.
