Championship
• Watford sealed promotion after they won 2-0 at Brighton, with goals from Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra. That result, combined with Middlesbrough’s 4-3 defeat to Fulham and Norwich’s 1-1 draw at Rotherham, means the Hornets return to the top flight after eight years away.
• Middlesbrough fought back from 3-1 down with ten men to level, only to concede a last-minute Ross McCormack winner as Aitor Karanka’s team pushed for victory. That means Bournemouth can all but guarantee a first ever top-flight campaign with a home win against Bolton on Monday night.
• It was a dramatic day at the bottom of the table, as Jordan Bowery’s late equaliser for Rotherham, combined with Derby rallying to draw 3-3 at Millwall, kept Rotherham out of the bottom three, and Wigan in with a slim chance of survival. Rotherham are just a point ahead of Millwall, but could be safe before the final day; either by beating Reading on Tuesday night, or by appealing successfully against their recent three-point deduction.
• The race for the final two playoff spots will go to the wire, with Ipswich, Derby, Brentford and Wolves separated by just three points. Freddie Sears scored the winner as Ipswich beat Nottingham Forest 2-1, but Brentford’s 2-0 win at Reading, and Wolves’ 1-0 victory at Wigan, keep them in the playoff chase.
• Leeds United fought back to win the Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough, Steve Morison scoring the winner. Elsewhere, it finished Birmingham 1-0 Charlton, Huddersfield 2-2 Blackburn and Cardiff 3-2 Blackpool – the Tangerines finish their away fixtures without a single win.

League One
• Preston and MK Dons will take their fight for the second automatic promotion place to the final day of the season. Preston beat fourth-placed Swindon 3-0 at Deepdale, while Daniel Powell got the winner as Dons beat Rochdale 3-2 at Spotland. Preston, who lead the race by a point, travel to Colchester on the final day; MK Dons host relegated Yeovil.
• Chris Porter’s 87th minute penalty gave Colchester a 3-2 win at Fleetwood to boost their survival chances. The U’s are in 23rd place with a game in hand on those above them, while Leyton Orient drew 1-1 with Sheffield United but were saved by Crawley’s late 4-3 loss to Peterborough.
• Notts County beat Doncaster 2-1 to climb out of the bottom four, while Crewe’s 3-1 win at the Ricoh Arena drags Coventry into a six-team final day battle against the drop. Sheffield United, Swindon and Chesterfield, who lost 2-0 at home to Bristol City, have all confirmed playoff places.

• Shrewsbury joined Burton in sealing promotion to League One, after a two-year stint in the fourth tier. Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro’s early goal was enough to get the win required at Cheltenham; they will fight it out with Burton for the title after the Brewers beat Northampton 3-1.
• Cheltenham’s defeat, coupled with Hartlepool’s 2-1 home win over Exeter, means the Robins drop out of the Football League. Hartlepool’s win also relegated Tranmere, who have been a League club for 94 years, and reached the League Cup final in 2000. Rovers lost 3-2 at Plymouth, who have reached the playoffs along with Stevenage, 1-0 winners at home to Carlisle.
• Southend are in pole position for the third automatic promotion place after Michael Timlin’s late winner against Luton. The Shrimpers are on 84 points – two ahead of Bury, who beat AFC Wimbledon 2-0, and three ahead of Wycombe, who drop to fifth after a 1-0 home loss to Morecambe.
