Football League chairman would 'bet a grand' on Liverpool midfielder's transfer

Liverpool youngster Herbie Kane could be set for a January loan move to Hull City.

The 21-year-old has been linked with several clubs willing to offer him regular first-team experience but it seems the Tigers could be in poll position to complete a deal.

That's according to Peterborough United Owner Darragh MacAnthony who said he would "bet a grand" on him joining the Championship side in January.

Football Insider had linked Kane with a move to the League One club but MacAnthony was quick to deflect the attention when a Posh fan asked him about the rumours on Twitter.

Kane spent last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers under current Hull City manager Grant McCann and was linked with a move to the Tigers in the summer.

In fact, Accrington Stanley claimed they had been told the midfielder was heading to East Yorkshire when they had made enquiries about his availability.

Kane made 49 appearances for Doncaster last season, scoring seven goals and playing an influential role in their charge to the League One play-offs.

Hull boss McCann described the youngster as "top class" during an interview with Hull Live in the summer.

Kane was part of the young Liverpool side that were beaten 5-0 by Aston Villa in Tuesday night's Carabao Cup quarter-final but was one of the players who impressed.

Jurgen Klopp is likely to want the midfielder to be guaranteed game time if a move is to be completed.
