The last of our featured Non-League Day games, 10-man Leyton Orient earned a point against Hartlepool in the National League.

Great stuff from the Blyth Spartans social media team:

Drama late on as a late Rory Gaffney goal for Salford saves a point against Braintree in the National League.

It is a winning start for Nicky Shorey and Glen Little, Wingate & Finchley 1-0 Leatherhead in the Isthmian Premier.

It’s all over at Kingsmeadow! Portsmouth win 2-1 but AFC Wimbledon pushed them close in the second half.

All over in Torquay, Hemel Hempstead return home with a 2-1 win against nine-man Truro City.

It’s full-time at York Street, Boston United 4-0 winners over Blyth Spartans.

Not to be outdone:

No explanation as yet...

Would love to know what happened here, any amateur cameramen at Plainmoor?

AFC Wimbledon are pushing for a leveller, but Portsmouth are defending obdurately. No clear cut chances as such but it is all Dons right now.

Only one goal in it at Spotland, Rochdale now trail 2-3 against Doncaster thanks to Kgosi Nthue.

We finally have a goal at Coventry! The hosts have taken the lead against Wycombe through Conor Chaplin.

It’s not going well for Plymouth, they were trailing 2-0 at Oxford and now the Pilgrims are down to 10 ten men, Yann Songo’o seeing red for a second bookable offence.

It is looking good for today’s further travellers! Hemel Hempstead have just re-taken the lead against Truro City, Ismail Yakubu has scored with less than 10 minutes of normal time left.

In National League North, Boston are now 4-0 up against Blyth, Gavin Allott and then Brad Abbott scored two in quick succession to make the long journey home a miserable one for travelling fans.

Salford took the lead very early against bottom of the table Braintree but now the National League leaders trail 2-1, Mohamed Bettawer with the second for the Iron.

Elsewhere in League One, Accrington are now 3-1 up against Bradford, Shrewsbury have pulled one back at Fleetwood, Doncaster now lead 3-1 at Rochdale, it’s 2-0 to Peterborough at Scunthorpe. In League Two, Colchester lead 2-1 against Crawley, Exeter have doubled their lead against Swindon, Newport and Stevenage is 1-1, at Vale Park, the hosts have pulled one back against Lincoln.

We have a game at Kingsmeadow! James Hanson could not get it done with his head but his left foot has pulled Wimbledon back into the contest, picking up the ball after some scruffy defending on the edge of the box, the striker lines up his shot and beats Pompey keeper MacGillivary with a curling effort into the top corner from 18 yards out!

Boston are now 2-0 up!

Finally we have some action at Brisbane Road! Leyton Orient’s Joe Widdowson is shown a straight red card for a dangerous, late challenge on Michael Woods. Orient’s James Dayton and Hartlepool’s Carl Magnay are also booked for their reactions.

James Hanson, one of Ardley’s half-time introductions, has squandered a big chance for the Dons. His historically reliable head not able to direct a left-wing cross on target from six yards out.

At the top of League Two, Lincoln are now 4-0 up at Vale Park, Michael Bostwick piling on the hurt for Port Vale.

Rooney! We’re all square at Plainmoor with Truro City’s Dan Rooney netting a leveller in their National League South contest against Hemel Hempstead just three minutes after the re-start!

Updated

Dons midfielder Tom Soares is lucky to escape further punishment four a wild challenge in the centre circle. Lee Probert pulls put a yellow but Soares was late, high and dangerous - that could easily could have been more.

Bold move from AFC Wimbledon manager Neil Ardley. With his side 2-0 down to Pompey, he has made three changes at the break: Nightingale, Hartigan and Hanson for Watson, Barcham and Pigott. The Dons needed a change, but you just hope no one gets injured.

That’s it! The last unbeaten team in the Football League is defeated, it is all over at Sixfields.

Is that the end of Forest Green’s unbeaten run? Andy Williams, one of Mark Cooper’s star charges during his time at Swindon, has scored deep into added time to put Northampton ahead!

It’s half-time at York Street in the National League North contest Between Boston and Blyth Spartans, the hosts lead 1-0.

In our Non-League Day games, what I billed as the glamour fixture between Leyton Orient and Hartlepool is 0-0, nothing says glamour like 0-0 in the National League. In the Isthmian Premier League, Shaun Okojie has hit the post for Leatherhead as they look to get back into the game at Wingate & Finchley.

Controversy at Kingsmeadow, Donohue looks like he gets tripped up in the box and goes down under pressure, but the referee decides the Pompey man dived and brandishes a yellow card.

In League Two, Chuks Aneke has put MK Dons 1-0 up at Cambridge and Lincoln have doubled their advantage at Port Vale.

As Fleetwood add a second against the Shrews, Wimbledon keeper McDonnell makes a fantastic save to keep out Naylor’s strike from distance.

That’s a lovely second goal for Pompey! A move that stretched AFC Wimbledon from side to side and ended with Lee Brown squaring the ball across the six yard box for Evans to rifle home into an unguarded net, Dons 0-2 Portsmouth!

Here’s a look at the Wingate & Finchley opener:

A few more score updates: Fleetwood lead 1-0 against Shrewsbury and Doncaster are a goal up at Rochdale. In League Two, Northampton have levelled the scores against Forest Green.

In the League One game at Kingsmeadow both AFC Wimbledon and Portsmouth have had chances in the opening 20 minutes but it’s the visitors who are ahead! A corner from the right is whipped in left-footed and Tom Naylor has his first goal for Pompey, it’s not the prettiest, I think it went in off his shoulder, but he won’t care about that.

We have a first goal of the Shorey/Little era at Wingate and Finchley!

Back in League Two, Exeter lead 1-0 against Swindon and Morecambe are 1-0 ahead on the road at Carlisle.

Sadly the journeymen in National League North are behind. Gregg Smith has put Boston 1-0 up against Blyth Spartans.

Here we go, there’s been a goal in the National League South! Spencer McCall has put Hemel Hempstead ahead against Truro City, that’s what you want after a four-hour drive down to the South West.

Updated

A couple more early goals, Oxford are 1-0 up against fellow League One strugglers Plymouth Argyle. In League Two, Lincoln are ahead at Port Vale thanks to Harry Anderson.

First goal of Non-League Day, unsurprisingly it is Salford who have it. Rory Gaffney has put the National League leaders ahead against Braintree.

We have a goal in League Two! Newport County are ahead thanks to what sounds like a stunning strike from Matty Dolan against Stevenage.

And... we are off!

We’ve had a goal at Sixfields, Reuben Reid has given Forest Green the lead just before half-time. In fact it is now half-time, so the visitors lead 1-0 at the break. All the 3pm games are set to get underway.

Interesting feature for Football League fans today, the usual Saturday afternoon blackout does not apply because of the international window so the EFL iFollow service is available for all clubs offering it in League One and League Two.

Just over half an hour gone in the 2pm kick-off and it is still 0-0 between Northampton and Forest Green. Rovers just had a let-off when Billy Waters blasted over the bar when picked out in the box from a quick Northampton free-kick.

On that theme...

Preamble

With no action in England’s top two tiers and the national team having bored fans to tears in Croatia on Friday night it turns to the lesser-heralded talents to entertain the football-watching public. There is a full slate of fixtures in League One and League Two, as well as the annual Non-League Day jamboree.

At the top of League One, Portsmouth head to Wimbledon a week on from losing their first league game of the season - a shock home defeat by Gillingham. Kenny Jackett’s side bounced back in their midweek EFL Trophy tie at Crawley and will want to maintain their three point gap over second-place Peterborough. The Posh are on the road at mid-table Scunthorpe. Down the bottom, Oxford host Plymouth. Of the two Argyle are the ‘form’ side, going into the game unbeaten in two and travelling to the Kassam off the back their first win of the season over the Dons last week.

In League Two, Macclesfield continued their miserable run on Friday night with a 1-0 defeat at Tranmere. Elsewhere, Forest Green Rovers are the last remaining unbeaten side in the Football League, Mark Cooper takes his team head to Northampton hopeful of maintaining that proud record.

On Non-League Day we have picked out a few games to keep an eye on. The glamour fixture is at the top of the National League as second-place Leyton Orient host Hartlepool, who sit sixth. Down a tier, we have surely the longest trip of the day as Hemel Hempstead make a near four-hour journey to play Truro City in Torquay, on a similar theme Blyth Spartans travel the long road to Boston. In the Isthmian League Premier Division, new joint managers Nicky Shorey and Glen Little take charge of their first game at the helm of Wingate & Finchley against Leatherhead.
