Football: Fulham and Liverpool in action in the Europa League

Europa League: Fulham boss Roy Hodgson ahead of kick-off in the game against Juve
A pensive looking Roy Hodgson before kick-off. He has every reason to look worried with his team 3-1 down from the first leg, it will take a astonishing performance from his Fulham team to turn this tie around

Europa League: David Trezeguet celebrates opening the scoring in the 2nd minute
It's the worst possible start for Hodgson and his men as in the second minute a defensive mix up means the ball ends up at the feet of David Trezeguet who from 10 yards out, stokes the ball across the goal and into the net at the far post

Europa League: Juventus celebrates Trezeguet's goal
The Juventus fans get their scarves out as they celebrate Trezeguet's goal. With the aggregate score at 4-1 and an away goal in the bag, they must think they are home and dry and in the quarter finals...

Europa League: Bobby Zamora scores the equaliser
However Fulham seem to have other ideas as just seven minutes later, Bobby Zamora makes the most of an opportunity presented to him when Cannavaro falls over, by chesting the ball down and slamming the ball home from 6 yards

Europa League: Fabio Cannavaro gets sent off
More bad news for Juve just before the half hour mark when Fabio Cannavaro is shown the red card after he pulled back Gera when the Fulham striker was heading goalwards

Europa League: Zoltan Gera scores to make it 2-1
Five minutes before half time, with no Juve defenders within shirt tugging distance, Gera hits the ball high into the Juventus net from two yards out to make it 2-1 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate, Game On!

Europa League: Zoltan Gera celebrates after scoring from the spot and making it 3-1
Just after half-time Damien Duff crosses the ball and the ball hits the arm of Diego, who is two yards from Duff and the referee blows his whistle and points to the spot. It's a very harsh decision on Juve but the referee's decision is final, if sometimes a bit wrong. Gera steps up and hits a good penalty sending the ball low into the left corner and also the keeper the wrong way. It's 3-1 on the night and 4-4 on aggregate, so there's all to play for

Europa League: Clint Dempsey brilliantly chips the ball and scores the winning goal
With seven minutes to go and extra time beckoning Clint Dempsey takes things into his own hands and pulls off an audacious chip from the edge of the area which lofts over Chimenti and into the far corner to make it 5-4 on aggregate

Europa League: Fulham fans celebrate an amazing 4-1 victory over Juventus
The final few minutes were a nail biting time for the Fulham faithful as a Juve goal would put them through, but fortunately Fulham held firm and the fans were able to celebrate at the final whistle. It was an amazing result and performance which will surely go down in Fulham folklore

Europa League: Liverpool fans display a banner at the game against Lille
A packed house at Anfield and the Liverpool fans must be hoping that the team put in a performance at Anfield like those of the Liverpool side of old on a European night rather than the sort of performance that the current side put in at Lille

Europa League: Eden Hazard rues his missed chance
...but the Liverpool keeper stood up well to block the youngster's chip. It was Lille's first real chance of the match and a warning to Liverpool to be on their guard

Europa League: Torres scores Liverpool's second goal
Four minutes into the second half and Torres puts Liverpool ahead on aggregate. The ball is punted forward down the left in a quite ungraceful style and Rami misjudges both the path of the ball and his jump so the ball bounces over him and straight into the path of Torres, who gratefully gathers the ball before tearing into the Lille penalty area and executes a deft chip over the advancing Landreau and into the empty net

Europa League: Gerrard celebrates after Torres scores Liverpool's third goal
Although Liverpool are in the driving seat following Torres' goal, the Anfield faithful have their nerves tested in the remaining forty minutes as Lille put together a few neat attacking moves only for poor finishing to let them down. The Kop and probably Benitez breathe a collective sigh of relief in the last minute when Torres poaches a goal from 7 yards out after Landreau spills a Stevie G 20 yard special. A relieved Liverpool win the tie 3-1 on aggregate and are through to the quarter finals
