Football fans swapping match day pies and pints for quinoa salads and coffee

Footie fans are swapping their match day pies and pints for quinoa salads and coffee.

A study found 28% of Premier League supporters have changed their habits to become more healthy since 2017.

And some 22% have either gone veggie or have meat-free days.

Arsenal, based in North London, top the healthy league with 61% of fans saying their dietary habits have changed.

Gooner Brent Anders, 33, a computer programmer from Islington, said: “Football fans have moved on, like the rest of Britain, and I’m proud of that.

“That said, some of us tell our wives the odd white lie. We’re not perfect.”

Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton supporters are also among the healthiest eaters, according to the study of 2,000 fans by Freebets.com.

But just one in 10 have changed their habits among the Newcastle, Leicester, Nottingham Forest and Wolves faithful.

Freebets’ Tim Agnew said: “There is a big difference across the country.”
