The American Alliance of Football began its inaugural season on Saturday night, and it didn’t take long for the fledgling league to win over fans on Twitter.
Early on in one of the two opening night games, San Antonio’s Shaan Washington took off quarterback Mike Bercovici’s helmet with a massive hit that, incredibly, was deemed entirely legal. Football fans expecting a penalty flag were pleasantly surprised.
Another Alliance innovation got rave reviews on social media. During a review, the broadcast shared the audio between the referee on the field and the official in the booth, giving fans an all-access look at the process.
