Football fans enter Euro 2020 final without tickets after breaching Wembley security for England v Italy

Wembley Stadium officials are working to remove "a small group of people" who breached security to enter the venue ahead of the Euro 2020 final between Italy and England on Sunday.

Shocking scenes emerged prior to kick-off in north London, with supporters storming barricades and security fences to access the stadium.

A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: "There was a breach of security and a small group of people got into the stadium. We are now working closely with stadium stewards and security to remove these people.

"Anyone inside the stadium without a ticket will be instantly ejected."

UEFA and the Football Association had previously denied reports that fans without tickets breached Wembley security.

Tournament organisers UEFA had told the PA news agency everything remained "under control" and no-one could enter the stadium without a ticket.

An FA spokesperson added: "We are dealing with an incident that occurred at the outer security perimeter area of the stadium, with support from police.

"Safety measures were quickly activated in the relevant areas and there were no security breaches of people without tickets getting inside the stadium."

But that appears now not to be the case, with a probe launched into what happened prior to the final.
