Football Factory star's family found after being 'pulled from Turkey earthquake rubble'

Football Factory actor Tamer Hassan has revealed his family have been found and are now "safe" after they went missing in the Turkey earthquake.

Actor Tamer, 54, shared the update after he made an emotional TV appearance the day before – tearfully revealing his family were lost following the natural disaster.

British-Turkish actor Tamer's family went missing after the 7.8 magnitude quake hit the country this week.

More than 21,000 have died following the terrifying tremors in southeastern Turkey and Syria on Monday, while many remain missing in the rubble from collapsed buildings.

Tamer previously admitted he was "not hopeful" as he had family members who were yet to have been found on Thursday.

But, in a new interview the actor – who is father to Love Island star Belle Hassan – revealed his loved ones had been "pulled from the rubble".

Speaking via video link from Cyprus on Sky News, Tamer said of his family: "We had some great news in the early hours of the morning that they've been found.

"We're very, very happy for that, we're very relieved. It comes a little bit bitter sweet to tell you the truth because the amount of people that are still there – family, friends, Cypriots, Turkish people and every one from around the world that are stuck there.

"But they've been found, we're happy."

When asked what happened, Tamer said: "Quite recently they were rescued, we haven't had too much information but we know they've been pulled from the rubble and they are safe at the moment which we're very thankful for, so thank you for all your well-wishes and prayers."

Just 24 hours ago, Tamer admitted he was "not hopeful" about finding his loved ones and was trying to find a route into Turkey from Cyprus to aid the search and rescue.

Tamer said on Thursday morning: "I literally have no words for this. We're all devastated as I explained before we have family that are lost, not found."

"The biggest distress for me is that there's some areas that have been completely flattened with no help," he added.

Football Factory actor Tamer added: "What we're trying to do is ascertain exactly where the most help is needed."

Tamer is raising money and sending supplies over and is planning to travel to Turkey shortly to join the search.

He has set up a Go Fund Me page and so far raised more than £11,000 to help those in need.

Writing in the description of the fundraising page, Tamer explained: "You can only imagine the devastation & destruction a huge earth quake has left these beautiful lands!"

He added: "There are survivors STILL OUT THERE! They are pulling them from the rubble as we speak!

"But we are in need of blankets, water, food, tents, everything you can imagine that can keep these desperate people going! Baby food, nappies the list goes on! We need funds to help those in need and to help some how rebuild this country back to what it once was..

"Please every penny helps so I ask you friends, family and those of you who just feel for the human race .. Donate today".
