A football coach was punched and knocked unconscious after an argument over a borrowed football in Fulham.

Police have released still images from CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to about the attack, which took place at around 7.40pm on October 2 last year.

The incident occurred when a group of teenagers went over to the coach and asked to borrow a football but when they left without returning it, he followed them to ask for it back.

During the row, an older group - known to the teenagers - arrived and became embroiled in a physical confrontation with the victim.

One of the men punched the coach, which caused him to fall and smack his head, knocking him unconscious.

The group then ran off towards Fulham Broadway.

The coach was rushed to hospital where he had to have surgery for two fractures in his jaw.

Detective Constable Zachery Donohoe, from the Metropolitan Police’s central west command unit, said: "This was a shocking and unprovoked attack and the victim continues to recover from his horrific injuries.

“I would urge anybody who recognises the man in these images to contact us immediately."

To report information about this attack tweet @MetCC or call 101 quoting CAD 6761/02OCT20. To stay anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
