Football clubs show their support to #BashYourBoots campaign

A number of Irish League clubs have shown their support to the NHS through a new football-themed campaign.

The #BashYourBoots initiative kicked off last night, coinciding with the now weekly #ClapForCarers.

The idea came from Gavin Clements, who wanted to come up with a way for the football family to join in supporting the frontline workers during the coronavirus crisis.

Last night's #BashYourBoots was backed by a number of clubs including Larne, Carrick Rangers, Greenisland, Barn United, Rosario and many more.

"Last week we were out doing Clap For Carers and everyone around the housing development were out clapping, hitting their pots and pans etc," Gavin told Sky Sports.

"The boys were inside playing FIFA because everything for the boys is just football.

"I was just thinking of a way of getting them out and getting them involved.

"So I came up with the idea of Bash Your Boots to get them out. Wear their full kits, wear the colours of the clubs they play for and bash their boots together."
