Football club's health drive

A West Lothian football club have launched a running and walking club for their local community.

Blackburn United are running the classes every Monday and Thursday from 6pm onwards and everyone is welcome no matter their fitness levels.

The walking club forms part of the club’s new community project for adults after they were lucky enough to receive funding from the Big Lottery Community Fund Awards.

Blackburn are a community club and this project is part of a drive to use the club as a vehicle to help others.

Speaking to the Courier the Blackburn United president, Ian McGinty, said: ““The Club is keen to broaden its appeal beyond our current core activity of football and decided to trial a running & walking club to help inspire those in the local community who might be interested in improving their health and wellbeing but who might not know how best to start doing so.”

For more more information contact the club at Blackburn United, New Murrayfield Park, Ash Grove, Blackburn, EH47 7LL or blackburn.united@googlemail.com
