Developers Westchurch last week submitted separate plans to Bolton Council to build 88 new homes on Wyresdale FC’s current pitches off Inverberg Drive, Breightmet.

A planning application to Bury Council for the new football ground says the area in question is currently classified as green belt and is used as grazing fields.

A design and access statement in support fo the plans, states: “This application proposes to develop the site to create a new football facility consisting of four pitches, a changing and club house pavilion and a small storage container.

“In addition, the application proposes external works to regrade the land to create level pitch areas and the provision of new parking areas. A new access will be formed off Radcliffe Moor Road.

“When complete, the facility is to be used by Bolton Wyresdale AFC who will relocate from their existing site off Inverberg Drive, Breightmet, Bolton.

“The existing facilities are no longer fit for purpose and do not meet Sport England or LFA guidance.

“The proposed development at the new Radcliffe Moor Road site, will provide fully compliant facilities and will secure the future sustainability of the football club.

“The site is located on the border between Bury and Bolton, just off Bury New Road in the ward of Radcliffe North. Breightmet lies to the west of the site and Bradley Fold lies to the south.

“The site is within two kilometres of Bradley Fold, Ainsworth, Little Lever and Breightmet, and within four kilometres of Radcliffe, Bury and Bolton.”

The plans for the football pitches include two full size 11-a-side pitches and two slightly smaller areas for junior football use.

The developers say part of the site will be turned into for car parking for up to 78 vehicles, four spaces would be for disabled use.

Planners in Bury will decide on the plans after a consultation period with neighbours.
