Football club organises fake funeral for loved-up friend who they stopped seeing

A Welsh football team who were sad that they no longer saw their teammate after he got a girlfriend gave him a gentle reminder to spend more time with them – by surprising him with his own fake funeral.

For Keiran Cable’s first night out with Prince FC since he started seeing his new girlfriend, the 20-year-old thought he was In for a night at the pub to watch the Rugby World Cup, Wales Online reported.

But when he arrived he was met with his own funeral procession, complete with a bright blue coffin emblazoned with his initials, a hearse, and a fake vicar.

The team also printed out specially made funeral programmes, with a front cover reading: “In Loving Memory of Keiran Cable.

“Celebrating and remembering the tragically short time we spent without late brother Keiran Cable.”

The 50 team mates who meticulously planned the event also chose songs for the service from artists including the Kaiser Chiefs, Buzzfeed reported.

“Thoughts are with friends of Keiran at this dark time. However they shouldn’t grieve for him but wish him luck as he continues on in his next life,” the programme read, according to Wales Online.

Luckily, Mr Cable told Wales Online that the stunt was "shokcing," but wasn't upset.

He told BuzzFeed “It was one big surprise! I’ve had hundreds of friend requests on Facebook. My name has been mentioned everywhere and the amount of people that have approached me is surreal I’ve been interviewed on the radio. It’s just one big dream!”

Ben Sullivan, one of the organisers, said that Mr Cable’s also took the prank well.
