Football clockwatch: Premier League updates and latest news – as it happened

Saturday Clockwatch
More reaction to that Backstreet Boys documentary news. Oh and an FA Cup. Photograph: Rex, PA, Getty

That’s all from me for today. Manchester City’s match against Everton kicks off in 20 minutes and we’ll have on-the-whistle reports from all the Premier League matches that kicked off at 3pm up on the website very shortly. A win over Everton would move City to within just three points of Chelsea at the Premier League summit. Follow the action with Scott Murray by clicking on this link.

Up in Scotland: Motherwell 0-1 Celtic, Aberdeen 3-0 Hamilton, Dundee 1-2 Inverness, Partick Thistle 1-1 Kilmarnock, St Mirren 0-1 St Johnstone. Click on the link to view the Scottish Premiership table.

Sheffield Wednesday grab a late winner against Blackburn: Deep in injury time, Sheffield Wednesday score a late winner against Blackburn. Claude Dielna with the winner there, followed by a caution for - I’m guessing - celebrations that were almost certainly over-zealous.

Derby County lead the Championship table by one point from Ipswich Town, with Bournemouth and Middlesbrough next in the pecking order, a further point behind.

Liverpool are held at home by a Sunderland team that doesn’t win too many games, but doesn’t lose too many either. It was another well organised performance from Gus Poyet’s men.

Premier League result: Tottenham 0-0 Crystal Palace

The boos ring out at White Hart Lane, where Crystal Palace seem to have given Spurs a torrid afternoon in a match they dominated and will be disappointed not to have won.

RED CARD! Arsenal are down to 10 men ...

Calum Chambers joins Charlie Austin in picking up a career first red card, after getting his second booking of the game for a fairly innocuous challenge on Bojan. Ten-man Arsenal continue to trail 3-2 and have just 10 minutes to try and salvage something from what’s been a ridiculous game of football.

A goal disallowed at the Brittania

Bojan had put Stoke City 4-0 up against Arsenal at the Britannia, with Bojan beating Damian Martinez with a soft shot at his near post. The Arsenal goalkeeper complained that a Stoke City player in an offside position was in his eyeline, so the goal should have been disallowed and the referee eventually reverses his decision to award the goal, after consulting with his linesman. It’s still Stoke 3-0 Arsenal.

Following a first half in which neither side managed to register a shot on target, Sunderland striker Connor Wickham volleys inches the wrong side of the upright, squandering a great opportunity to put Sunderland a goal to the good. Hartlepool news: It’s not been a good weekend for the worst side in League Two, who got knocked out of the FA Cup by their Northern Premier League neighbours Blyth Spartans last night and have now parted company with their manager, Paul Murray, who had been in charge at Victoria Park for just 45 days. During his tenure, Murray oversaw one win, five defeats and a draw. He departs with the club bottom of League Two, six points adrift of safety. Expect celebrity Hartlepool fan and Gillette Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling to be in a slough of despair this afternoon.
