Footage shows van bursting into '12 foot' flames in pub car park

Dramatic video footage shows a transit van bursting into flames in a Swansea pub car park.

Firefighters arrived outside the Dylan Thomas pub, Llansamlet, at around 9.45pm on Friday, June 26 to tackle the fire.

Passer by Gareth Ryland said he was on his way to the petrol station when he saw thick black smoke and flames high in the air.

"I was going in the petrol station when I saw the smoke across the road," he said.

"I managed to get close enough to make sure no one was inside. I don’t know whose it was. A fire engine was there about 10 minutes after me.

"The flames were confined in the van when I got there but then the windows exploded and the flames were coming out all the windows with a lot of thick black smoke. The flames were around 12 foot tall."

A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue service said: "At 21.47pm on Friday, June 26, crews from Morriston attended a transit van on fire. Crews left at 22.12pm."

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
