Footage shows terrifying moment reckless driver narrowly misses woman and child at crossing

Footage shows the terrifying moment a dangerous driver almost mows down a woman and child as they make their way over a zebra crossing.

The dramatic video, obtained by Manchester Evening News, was captured on a car's dashcam at 8.45am on November 2 in Saddleworth, Oldham.

The pair can be seen crossing Chew Valley Road in Greenfield, just down from the junction with Shaw Street and close to Greenfield Valley School.

John Reed - whose dashcam recorded the incident - stopped his vehicle to let the woman and child cross the street which connects the village to Greenfield station and the A670 Oldham Road.

The dangerous manoeuvre takes place as the woman and child are about to reach the pavement on the other side of the road, with the Micra narrowly avoiding them.

It then makes a swift move back over to the left-hand side of the road, just in time with a bus approaching towards the Micra, before driving off in a hurry towards Greenfield station and Oldham Road.

Mr Reed reported the incident to Greater Manchester Police, which recorded the incident as part of Operation Considerate, the force's ongoing campaign for safer roads.

Anyone with information about the incident can report it to GMP by calling 101, or online at the force's website, using the reference number 966-18783-21-0606-VE.
